Wolf River KAL: The Final Results
Our January knit-along has come to a close and we wanted to thank everybody who participated! Around this time every year, we have all the feelings of excitement and sadness as we wear our new sweaters and say goodbye to another years KAL. All of the local people who came to our cast off party last week had some very beautiful finished (and almost) finished sweaters and, as always, we were overwhelmed by all of the talented knitters that joined us across the country and the globe. Let's take a look at some of the lovely sweaters that were born in this year's #fancykal!
Name: Jaime
Pattern: Wolf River pullover Melissa Schaschwary
Yarn: I used Jill Draper Empire in Barn
Size made: Small (37")
Was this your first sweater? This was not my first sweater, but it is my first time working with Empire and I love it. These mega-hanks are hand-dyed, but since it is one large skein (over 1200 yards!) there is no need to alternate skeins in your sweater to account for variations in dye. The US Rambouillet wool is tightly twisted and plied for a super-durable sweater and lovely stitch definition. I love it!
What is the next project you are working on? I've joined another KAL! I'm making Piece of Silver by Veera Välimäki from Laine Magazine. I'm using Tosh Merino Light in Birch. You can follow my progress on Instagram and by using the hashtag #pieceofsilverkal.
Name: Amber

Yarn: The Fibre Co. Arranmore in Finian
Size made: Small (37")
Modifications: I altered the back neck to be a little higher and shortened the sleeves about 1.5".
Was this your first sweater? No, I've made so many because I love knitting sweaters!
What is the next project you are working on? After I finished this sweater I whipped up the Omemee hat in Lopi and already finished it. I am halfway through a Georgetown Cardigan in Woolfolk Far, so I'm excited to get back to that project now.
