(Re)Introducing Heirloom Romney!

Allow us to reintroduce FTC exclusive Heirloom Romney, and also announce our first Knit Along of 2023!

We are so excited that Heirloom is back and just as beautiful as ever. We've partnered with Ali Pate of Road Trip Sock Yarn to bring you a beautiful and vibrant all new palette of colors named for heirloom vegetables, seeds, and herbs of all sorts. The new palette features a saturated rainbow of slightly tonal colors that work beautifully for colorwork, cables, textured stitches, and more. This soft but hard-wearing yarn is a great choice for cozy sweaters, comfy throw blankets, and warm accessories. There's a reason it's a staff favorite! You may remember that Heirloom Romney is completely processed in the US- grown, milled and dyed (right here in Colorado!). Sourced from two women owned farms Tawanda Farms in Montague, California and Silver Cloud Farm in Ashland, Oregon. Once sheared, the wool is milled for us at Kraemer Mill in Pennsylvania. And, as we mentioned above, we've now partnered with the lovely Ali Pae of Road Trip Sock Yarn to dye the yarn right here in Colorado. We are so excited to continue to support American wool!

Because Heirloom is so good for so many different projects, we couldn't decide on just one pattern for this knit-a-long. So we thought it would be fun to have a "choose your own adventure" type KAL, where we choose the yarn (Romney, obviously), and you choose the project. Knitting or crochet is welcome, so we hope that you'll join us!

Need some pattern inspiration? Here's what some of the Fancy Tiger crew are planning on making for the KAL:

Marta is doing a classic Isle Pullover in the natural undyed. The ribbed details and the mock neck keep things interesting, both to knit and to wear, and the cropped length is just her style.

Jaime is planning on doing the Felix Pullover in Golden Beet. The simple pattern will really let that color pop, and the detail at the raglan increases is such a cute touch.
Janee is knitting the Imposter's Shawl in Well Water. This Fancy Tiger original pattern was written with Heirloom Romney in mind, so you know it's gonna be gorgeous in this bright blue!
Bethany is very excited to knit the Lumme Pullover, which will show off the colors Sweet Pea and soil perfectly with its lovely floral motif across the yoke.

Kim has been wanting to knit the Seleste Sweater for a long time, and the new Heirloom palette was a perfect excuse to cast on! She's doing the Nettles color to play up the plant-like lace and bobble motif.

Can't wait to get started? Us too! The KAL launches March 7th at our Tuesday Open Craft Night- we hope to see you there!

    Hi Lucille,

This KAL is a choose your own pattern (the only requirement is that you use our Heirloom Romney yarn) so once you decide what pattern you want use, the pattern will tell you what needle size and gauge you should use!

    Happy crafting!

I’m interested in the KAL, and would like your suggested needle size and gauge for whatever pattern.

    Would you supply this info?
