Friolero Mittens + Yarn Along the Rockies 2018
Tomorrow we kick off the 7th annual Yarn Along the Rockies yarn crawl, a 9-day yarn crawl with 14 participating yarn shops across the front range of Colorado. With three grand prize baskets, Instagram giveaways, free patterns & stitch markers, and fantastic one-of-a-kind yarns and kits, there are lots of opportunities for fun and prizes! Visit the YATR website for more information on how to join in this once a year yarn extravaganza!
Each year the participating shops release a free pattern and this year one of our talented staff members Rae Gronmark of TruSpark Designs came up with this cute cable knit mitten pattern, Friolero. These simple, fetching mittens are knitted up with Colorado’s own yarn, Junegrass: Batch Two yarn. With an easy cable pattern and simple gusset thumb, these will definitely become a wintertime favorite! “Cold hands, warm heart”, is one of our favorite adages and Friolero (Spanish for someone sensitive to the cold) is the perfect pattern to warm the hands of any warm-hearted person in your life.
We are also excited to be offering an exclusive hand-dyed colorway of Knerd Shop DK weight yarn. This minty speckle-y goodness, appropriately named Mint Condition, is a perfect compliment to our new Friolero pattern and will be available in-store only during the yarn crawl, while supplies last. Skeins run 231 yards/100gr (perfectly makes three individual mittens) of 100% superwash merino wool. Stop by before we run out!
If you have participated in previous yarn crawls, you may notice that this year is a little different than past years. Each store has their own custom stitch marker. If you visit our store and get your passport stamped, you get your very own Fancy Tiger stitch marker. If you visit all 15 stores you will not only be entered to win one of three grand prize baskets, you will also have collected your own assortment of 14 custom store stitch markers. We will also be selling Yarn Along the Rockies Tote bags
Our Friolero Mitten pattern is only available in-store during Yarn Along the Rockies but will become available online down the road for our out of town friends once the crawl is complete. Stop by August 18-26th to get a copy for yourself.
