Negley Felts A New Seasonal Favorite
Project Pattern: This pattern is in the Fable issue of Taproot, available at Fancy Tiger Crafts
Materials: Shetland Wool Roving, Ashford Corriedale Wool Roving in Licorice, black wire (not available at our store)
When I saw the needle felted crow in the latest issue of Taproot I knew I had to make it. Not only is it coming up on our spookiest of seasons, but this felted gem has some personality and I wanted to try it out!
Having all the color wools and needle felting supplies in store all I had to get was black wire. I think the Shetland wool is the perfect blend for a natural grey that works well with the black Corriedale roving.
Working on it a couple hours a day I was able to finish it in three to four days. I would have finished him faster but I carefully felted the feet in instead of gluing them in, I believe it gives it a cleaner look. The only other change to the pattern I made was giving him wool eyes instead of glass eyes. Whatever eyes you do use you will have a cute crow buddy. I can’t wait to make more of them for this upcoming Halloween.
