Pattern Name and Designer: Look At My Holes (V.1.1) by James N Watts
Size Made: XL
Materials usedDaytime Linen by Flax & Twine in Spruce
Modifications: I knit the first version of the pattern (V.1.1), and the only modification I made was to not add any extra length to the sleeves after separating. I just did ribbing because I really liked where the sleeves fell at the separation.

Why were you interested in this project? It is fun and eye-catching. I wanted something to wear to summer events that could be chic or edgy, depending on how it's styled.

Was it easy, fun, or difficult? Was there anything you were nervous about trying or new to that was a first for you in this project? It was pretty easy once I got the lace pattern down. The lace held my attention, and it worked up super quickly.

How were the materials you chose to work with? I was a bit nervous to work with linen, but I found it to be surprisingly smooth. I love the structure it gives the lace. It took a few rounds to get used to the lack of stretch in the fiber since I work with wool more often, but I enjoyed how sturdy it felt as I was working.

Does it fill a hole in your closet? It is a great summer layering piece, and it feels more like a party/going out knit than what I typically make.

What do you find appealing about this pattern designer? James N Watts designs tend to be unique and fun, but also thoughtful. I also decided a while ago that I will only purchase from designers whose patterns are size inclusive. I think their patterns set a high bar for being both size inclusive and fun to knit.

Who do you envision liking this garment? Is this best for a particular body type, profession or maker? I think this is a very versatile piece! I've worn it over tanks, but it also looks great over a collared button-up. I think it could suit anyone who wants to make something a bit out of the ordinary.

Are any special pieces of equipment, knowledge or access to materials specific to this project needed? In other words, do you need a heavy duty sewing machine, a serger, tools for rivets or anything like that? No special equipment needed!

Was there a specific inspiration for why you chose this particular project? Does it remind you of something you love or have always wanted or admire? I was inspired by the Daytime Linen. The Spruce color is so beautiful, and I wanted to make something that would show off the color and structure of the fiber.
