The Perfect Handmade Baby Shower Gift

If you are like me, it seems like everybody in your life is pregnant or thinking about starting a family. When all your most beloved friends and family start to have babies, you need a great handmade shower gift that you can customize for each little babe. The Lullaby Layette Set by Oliver + S comes with four garment patterns that range from size 0-24 months! So many options to mix and match and all the pieces come together quickly!

When selecting which garments to make, I took advice from our resident baby expert, Tiffani. She told me that baby Q used the onesie from the Layette set all the time, so I knew that needed to be on the list. I also knew I wanted to make a couple of pieces that could be mixed and matched, so I decided to include a few pairs of pants. Since the pants only take a 1/2 yard of fabric and almost no time to complete, I made more than one pair to include.

The onesie is made up in one of Ellen Baker’s super soft double gauze metallic prints. I wanted to keep things cozy, yet stylish, for a full body garment. The neckline is finished with a silky jersey bias tape. I figured the pants could handle a more structured fabric so I picked a few of the Paint canvas prints. For the pockets, just a dash of Robert Kaufman Arroyo in a perfect dusty pink color. They both turned out so cute!

For the sizing, I took more sage advice from Tiffani. After her baby shower she had tons of 0-3 month clothes but not much in larger sizes, so I made next size up, 3-6 months. Hopefully baby will be able to get a bit more use out of them this way!

As you can see these versatile garments are perfect for summer and winter babies, both boys and girls! The only pattern you will need, no matter how many baby showers you will be attending.
