Caitlin Finishes the Ombre All Day Quilt

When one of my best friends got engaged, I knew I wanted to make something special for her and her husband. I'm only slightly embarrassed to say they just celebrated their third wedding anniversary, but I figure a quilt is timeless and cozy no matter how late the gift is.

Quilted by Shawna of Eleventh House Quilt Studio in the 'Bubbles' design

I loved making the Ombre All Day Quilt by Then Came June. Megan's instructions are clear and concise, and she makes it easy to achieve that signature ombre from corner to corner.
It can be hard picking out a color scheme and fabrics for another person, but with the help of my co-workers and Sarah's red couch, I chose a palette of beige to red and a really pretty blue as the contrast. Some were from my stash and some were new (at the time of starting the quilt), so there's a mish mash of fabrics used in this quilt, including some fabrics designed by Anna Graham of Noodlehead and Cotton + Steel basics. The background fabric is Ruby Star Society's Speckled in White Gold. I may only use the Speckled fabrics for quilt backgrounds from now on!
I'm really pleased with how the quilt turned out. There's a mix of warm and cool tones that play nicely together, and my favorite part is the Bubbles design that Shawna used for quilting! It's so fun and squishy with the wool batting she used, which I think will be perfect for cold Minnesota winters.
