Beginner: No experience necessary — we’ll teach you everything!
Beginner Plus: You have taken a 101 class or equivalent. You are familiar with threading your machine or know basic knit or crochet stitches.
Intermediate: You’ve got a few projects under your belt. You’ve made a few things and are looking to increase your knowledge.
Advanced: You know quite a bit about your chosen craft and you’re ready to take it to the next level.
Quilters and other crafters have inserted words and messages into their work since the beginning of needlework.
In this class we'll learn a fun method that adds your personality to the your project in the form of your own handwriting. The primary skill here is that of machine applique. We will also cover use of the several interfacings and stabilizers that help us get great results.
Your finished piece can be used to make a pillow cover, or a wall hanging, or be inserted into a larger quilt project. (Know that you will not have a finished product at the end of this class.)
Prerequisites: To get the most from this class, the student should be comfortable using the classroom sewing machines. In particular, threading, winding and inserting a bobbin, changing the presser feet and adjusting the machine settings.
