Children ages 9 - 17 are welcome to come and learn the engaging and beautiful art of knitting! Many people love learning how to knit: it requires focus and perseverance, and conquering the initial steep learning curve produces a deep inner sense of empowerment, creativity, and adventure.
In the first class, we will learn a basic cast-on, the knit stitch, and the purl stitch. We will practice stockinette knitting and learn the difference between knitting and garter stitches. For homework, children will be able to practice their skills with class-provided yarn and needles.
In the second class, we will have the opportunity to troubleshoot challenges and learn how to cast off. In this second class, depending on students' interests, we will also learn about different kinds of yarn, how to knit in the round, how to rib knit, and how to add different colors to a project.
No experience necessary. Class fee includes starter yarn and needles.
