Summer is for Knitting! Nathalie's Saco Stripes Tank

With summer right around the corner, many of us have been inspired to do some warm weather garment knitting. More and more summery knitting patterns are being released and with all of the linen, cotton, and hemp options that we have stocked, warm weather knitting has never been better. Knitting is an all-seasons craft, my friends!

Nathalie, who you may know as one of our shop tigers, has fallen hard for Quince and Co's Sparrow yarn, and she has whipped up not one, but two summer garments in this linen fingering weight. Here she is to tell you about her first one:

Pattern: Saco Stripes by Pam Allen
Yarn: Quince & Co Sparrow - five skeins in Pigeon and one in Truffle (available in store)
Size made: 41" bust
Modifications: I knit it in the round instead of flat (because I don't like sewing seams)

Last summer, I decided to make this simple tank pattern. As a long-time knitter and lover of wool, I've made lots of hats, scarves, gloves, and sweaters, but I wanted something that I could work on and wear in the summer. This was the perfect choice. It was my first project knitting with linen and I fell in love!

The resulting silky, drapey cloth feels so soft next to my skin on hot summer afternoons. The easy pattern was perfect for knitting at barbecues and Fourth of July get-togethers. I've paired this tank with jeans, shorts, and skirts, and I love it so much that I even wore with a cardigan all winter, too!

Check back later this week for Nathalie's second Sparrow make in all it's lacy detail!
