Kaylee's Oceanic Liberty Dress

I love all Liberty of London fabrics, but I have an extra special place in my heart for this dreamy, aquatic lawn. All I have been waiting for is the perfect pattern to show off its simple beauty, and I knew I had a winner when I saw the Chambray Dress from Handmade Style.

Pattern: Chambray Dress from Anna Graham’s Handmade Style
Materials: 2 ¼ yards of Liberty of London Speckled Clouds B, ½ yard chambray (for bias binding)
Size Made: Large
Modifications: 1/4” double fold bias tape instead of ½”

When I was looking for a pattern I definitely wanted something simple and relatively plain to show of the beautiful, bold fabric. What made the Chambray Dress the perfect choice is that it is plain without being boring. The little details on this dress make it unique and fun, not to mention easy to construct.

The shoulder seam is draped elegantly over the sleeve, which creates a beautiful effect. It also means that you don’t have to do an inset sleeve. You just fold the front and back should over the completed sleeve and sew closed. Totally simple!

The cuff is constructed in the exact same way, which makes for quick and rewarding sewing. This is absolutely a dress that an ambitious beginner could tackle!

I’m definitely heading into spring a very happy and prepared lady! Draped in light and airy Liberty of London, I couldn’t ask for anything better.
