Amber's Short Sleeve Silk Hadley

Anticipating autumn's arrival I decided to make some new fall staples for my wardrobe. Lately, every time I walk by the silk noil display in the shop, I can't help gazing at the rich colors. Finally, I cut some of this beautiful deep teal, Canard.

I have had Hadley tank on my sewing list for a while, but since it's time to focus on Fall and Winter wear I decided I needed to have some sleeves on my Hadley. I combine View A and B of the Hadley, mostly using the pattern for the tank, but instead of sleeve facings, I traced a shortened version of the long sleeve. I find a short sleeve top is perfect for wearing under cardigans during cool weather.

One of the reasons I chose Canard as my color, is how lovely it is against the rusty orange of my Gourd Flaum. It is my perfect fall color palette.

I finished the center front, center back, and side seam/underarm seam with a finish that looks great on both sides. The seams were pressed open, then the raw edges turned under and pressed, before being edgestitched (similar to a flat felled seam).

I really love the finishing on this garment--the wide hem facing and neck facings. It is fun to sew, looks so nice, and in the silk noil it is as comfy and warm as it is classy. 

Autumn weather, I'm ready for ya!
