Carve your own stamps and print a design of your own creation on a reusable canvas tote bag!
In this introductory-level class, we will use traditional quilt square designs to inspire our stamps and create our own patterns. By using these simple shapes and the positive/negative space inherent to relief printing, you will easily create an array of delightful patterns for your tote bag, as well as develop a skill to use on many future projects.
We will start with a design, transfer it for carving, carve our own stamps, and then play with patterns on canvas patches before creating a gorgeous design on your canvas tote.
Provided Materials
4 - 8x8” canvas patches (these will be to experiment with different patterns and to become comfortable with printing)
1- 15x17” canvas tote bag with 20” straps
4x4” Speedball speedy carve linoleum block
Speedball Block-printing fabric ink for use in class
Quilt block designs ready for transfer (feel free to bring your own ideas too!)
