Neighborhood Holiday Hat Free Pattern is Here!

My favorite thing to knit this time of year is a quick and bulky, bright and toasty hat!

Amber in a yellow Neighborhood Holiday hat and Jaime in a mint green one, standing against a white brick wall.

Our new pattern, Neighborhood Holiday Hat, uses just a single skein of Neighborhood Fiber Co’s Rustic Bulky. There's even enough left over for a pom pom if you’d like. Karida Collins, the dyer behind this Baltimore based company, creates beautiful hues that are bright and sophisticated.

Simpler than it might seem at first glance, Neighborhood Holiday Hat uses increases and decreases to create a simple traveling rib stitch with a “cable” look. Stretchy texture makes for a one-size-fits-all, festive and warm hat. The squishy travelling rib stitch also allows for some leniency in achieving perfect gauge.

This stout-stitched stunner makes a perfect handmade gift. On size US 17 needles, this project is fast, which means there is time to make hats for several folks on your list.

Favorite hats get loaned or lost, I find there can never be enough of them. There is always a noggin that needs a woolly hat to get them through winter days!
