Badwater Hat + Yarn Along the Rockies 2017
Tomorrow we kick off the 6th annual Yarn Along the Rockies yarn crawl and we are so excited for the fun to being. Every year all participating shops release a free pattern and this year our resident pattern designer Amber Corcoran designed a simple unisex cable knit hat, Badwater.
I designed the Badwater Hat to be a basic beanie, with just a little bit of interest from "dots" of tiny cables. The classic ribbed cap gets a bit of added texture--which also adds to the fun of knitting this project. The furrows and nubs remind me of a recent visit to Death Valley’s Badwater Basin, and the expanse of the bright salt flats crunching under my feet.
This super stretchy hat is sized for all. I designed this hat for my man, Eddie. He has a size XL head, and this one-size-fits-all hat fits great!
Badwater was made with one of our new yarns in mind, Knerd String Worsted, a locally dyed quishy 4-ply superwash merino yarn with tons of spring and bounce. Knerd Shop’s beautiful kettle dyed yarns come in a huge variety of colorways so there is a yarn for every human in your life.
Badwater also looks great in a more rustic textured yarn like our limited edition 100% Colorado grown and milled yarn, Junegrass: Batch Two, or….
Our own 100% US grown, milled and dyed Heirloom Romney, which comes in a stable of unique, earthy colors.
The hat pattern is only available in-store during Yarn Along the Rockies, but will become available online for our out of town friends once the crawl is complete. Stop by tomorrow at 10am to pick up a copy.
