Miranda's Breezy Bridgetown Backless
New favorite summer dress! The Bridgetown Backless dress, with its short sleeves and open back, calls for a barbeque or a dinner date on the patio.
Pattern: Bridgetown Backless Dress by Sew House Seven
Fabric: Melange Jersey Grey Mix by Telio & Cie
Size Made: 12
Modifications: shortened the body 2" due to the fabric's drape and my short-waisted-ness
The overlapping back piece is super cute detail and easy to accomplish. This would also be a great place to adjust its fit as well.
The fabric called to me as soon as it arrived some months ago. Drapey, slinky, like birch bark in liquid form - so different than the cotton prints that usually sing to me. Danielle made a dreamy Bridgetown Backless dress in Nani Iro that made me swoon, so I knew I needed to make it. I did a mental inventory of fabric with this pattern in mind and realized what a perfect match they were!
I love when a pattern can be made in either a knit fabric or a woven fabric. Usually, this requires me to step outside my quilting cotton clothing comfort zone. I'm already looking at some of the lawns we carry for a second dress!
