Pattern Name and Designer: Papao Wrap Pants, Ready to Sew
Size Made: 50 (European sizing)
Materials used: Bamboo Cotton Stretch French Terry, Heather Forest
Modifications: Sized down 2 sizes to accommodate for using a knit instead of a woven, left off the back pocket

I've been wanting to make a cozy pair of cute sweats for a bit. Last year I tried out a few jogger patterns, but none of them quite fit what I was envisioning.

Since I've made the Papao Wrap Pants from Ready to Sew before, and I know that I love them (you might remember THIS pair from a few years ago), I had a feeling that making a cozy pair out of a knit would be just what I was looking for. This is an image of a close up of Marta's Papao Wrap Pants focused on the wrap detail on the waist band. Our bamboo cotton french terry was an obvious choice for me. This fabric is so soft, and squishy, and comes in so many colors that choosing which one I wanted to use might have been the hardest part of this whole project.

Adapting a pattern written for woven fabrics to use a knit fabric instead can be pretty simple. The general rule of thumb is to size down between 1 and 2 sizes, depending on your desired fit. Because knit fabrics are naturally stretchy due to their construction, you don't need as much positive ease for a garment to fit well or comfortably. And the other thing to do is to make sure that you're using a stretch stitch or serger when you sew everything together. That's it!

The finished result? Pants that I never want to take off! Seriously, these are the most comfy project I think I've ever completed.
