Pattern made: Allie Olson Elio Top
Size made: 18, D cup
Materials used: Ribbed Tencel Modal w/ Spandex, Natural
Modifications: Omitted the fold over elastic for the hem, serged the sleeve hem instead of using a twin needle

Like the Kila Tank, and also probably the Highland's Wrap Dress (though I haven't made that one), the Elio by Allie Olson is beautifully drafted and surprisingly quick to sew. The neckline is finished with quarter inch elastic which, in a addition to making a beautiful, clean, hem, also really helps with fit and ensures that there isn't any gaping- something I've found to be really common with other wrap style tops and dresses.

Our Ribbed Tencel Modal w/Spandex was a a perfect pairing for this pattern. It is buttery soft, and so easy to work with- since it's a rib knit, it doesn't roll when you cut it. Great for anyone feeling a little intimidated by sewing with knits.

I chose to omit the fold over elastic at them in favor of simply serging the entire hem as a "design" choice (certainly not out of laziness! Who, me? A lazy sewist? Never.), and applied the same finishing technique to the sleeve "hems."

What I especially like about the Elio is that it can easily be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For me, it's giving a little bit of a 1970's disco vibe when paired with high waisted pants and boots, and I'm here for that!
