Lucinda KAL Wrap Up and Winners!

We just finished our summer KAL for the Lucinda sweater by Carrie Bostick Hoge from her newest book, Maddermade Anthology 2. This was a fun knitalong that mostly happened on Instagram and was held in conjunction with our friends Grainline Studio and Kelbourne Woolens. We had some great prizes for three different categories: Grainline Studio offered 3 sewing patterns for Best Vacation Pic, Kelbourne Woolens offered $50 worth of swag to Best Modification and we are offering a $50 gift certificate to Best Finished Object. Kate of Kelbourne Woolens and Jen of Grainline Studio even joined in the KAL fun.

Because this was a summer knitalong and the sweater is a fairly straightforward and simple knit, it was the perfect project to take on roadtrips, to the pool and beach and basically anywhere on vacation. The vacation pics were all amazing, but the prize of three Grainline Studio patterns went to Megan Macdonald (@saltairarts) for her beach pic at Goose Rocks Beach. I wish I could insert myself in this idyllic beach knitting scene! Congrats Megan!

Our runner's up for best vacation pic were Lupine Marshak's (@wild.lupine) boat scene pic and Sherry Ward's (@sherrylynnward) Beach Treasures pic.

Kate of Kelbourne Woolens is the queen of modifications and chose to make her sweater seamed instead of seamless as well as took out the v-neck in the back. The Kelbourne Woolens prize for best modified sweater goes to Ericka of @ebbandsew! Ericka did quite a bit of modifying besides the obvious stripes. She also knit it seamed, brought the neck in 5" on either side and finished the collar with ribbing - nice work!

Runner up for Best Modifications goes to Lianne (@lianneknits), whose Lucinda features contrasting cuffs and hem, shortened sleeves and seamed construction. A perfect staple as the weather gets cooler!

Fancy Tiger gave the award to best Finished Object and it was a tough call - there are so many beautiful new Lucinda's that were born this KAL! Our winner, though, went to Denise Dawson (@denny_dawesome) for her aqua Lucinda. Not only did she post a stunning photo of her finished sweater, this was her first ever sweater and we love it! Congrats Denise on knitting your first sweater and having it turn out so well!

Runners up for Best Finished Object were Caitlin (@crummery) for her very nice fitting new sweater, Marie (@eauforest) for her poppy red.

It was so great knitting along with everyone across the country via Instagram! Thanks all who participated and we look forward to seeing everyone's finished sweaters coming off the needles.
