I’ve been wanting to make some wardrobe staples like a few plain t-shirts. This project was a no brainer for me and was really quick and fun.
I love Shirt No.1 for many reasons but its really just so versatile and I think using a knit fabric really made it feel like a classic T-shirt. This patter doesn’t even have set in sleeves so it’s truly a breeze to sew.The pattern allows you to choose your own neckline and in the woven option I’d normally just use bias tape to finish the neck. This time however, I used knit fabric. I pulled out my serger and simply folded a 1.25” band in half and secured it to the neckline giving me a clean and classic neckline. To achieve a standard looking hem and neckline I used a twin needle in my domestic sewing machine to give my garment a coverstitched finish on the hem, cuffs, and back of neck. I think this would be a great intro to knits and choosing your own adventure with sewing garment basics!
