Heather's Minty Wintery Hat
I’ve trying to use my powers of knit to make the weather cooler here in Denver. So I decided to make a hat to convince the weather gods that it’s time to kick the thermostat down a few notches.
Pattern: Winter Dusk Hat by Jessica Gore
Materials: 1 skein Limited Edition Knerd String DK, Toft Alpaca Pom Pom
Modifications: None
Size: One Size
Knerd Shop made a special edition yarn for us for Yarn Along the Rockies. It’s ‘Fancy Tiger Green’ with the most beautiful speckles throughout the skein. I’ve had the Winter Dusk Hat by Jessica Gore sitting in my Ravelry favorites and I knew this yarn would be perfect.
I love learning new techniques, especially when they aren’t overly complicated! This pattern looks super complex but is really quite simple and fun! It uses wrap stitches which are like a cousin of a cable stitch. And the wrap stitches are a great way to show off the speckles in this yarn!
Rather than make a pom pom from the yarn, I went with a Toft alpaca pom pom because I think they add such great character to a beanie made with a fun yarn.
Here’s to using our powers of knit for good to bring us some chilly days very soon!
This beautiful, limited edition Mint Condition yarn will not last much longer. Make sure you get a skein before we sell out for good.
