Fen Pattern: Sara's Lawn Fen

Sara Guindon is an amazing artist and also a regular at Tuesday night Open Sew Night. We love her version of Fen, sewn up in a sweet little Japanese floral lawn.

Pattern: Fen by Amber Corcoran for Fancy Tiger Crafts
Version: View B with round neck and drop hem
Size Made: 4
Fabric: Japanese Lawn from Yuwa Live Life Collection
Modifications: none

I wanted a neutral color and something light that I could wear comfortably on a hot day. I went with a floral pattern of dark muted greens and pale blues from the Yuwa Live Life Collection.

It was a pretty easy pattern to follow. I initially wanted to go with long sleeves but decided to go short since I wanted to get lots of summer wear out of my Fen. I was happy that I went with the short sleeves but I'd definitely like to try one with the long too.

The double stitching along the neckline and pockets is my favorite part of Fen. It really adds a professional look to the garment. I'd really like to try a thicker fabric for winter. I really like the construction of the Fen and a heavier fabric would bring attention to these details in a way that a lighter fabric doesn't.

I've worn it so much already. It's a easy and flattering look that can be worn pretty much anywhere. I wear it all the time with my jean jacket but I also wore it to a wedding recently so it can be dressed up also.

Too cute, Sara - thank you!
