As the temperatures begin to drop and we head towards Fall, I start longing for all the cozy knits to snuggle into. Therefore, when I saw the Florence Shawl by Emily Platzer I was immediately drawn to the pattern. The yarn looked so lush with the stitch pattern doing a great job of highlighting the yarn. I knew it would be a great addition to my wardrobe.

The yarn I chose to work the pattern in was the suggested yarn of Fancy Tiger Crafts Heirloom Romney. My favorite yarn to work with will always be 100 percent wool though I love trying out other yarn blends. I read the description of the yarn and found that it was US-sourced. This made me so excited! I also found that authentic wool such as this lustrous wool tends to hold up super nicely in the years to come. Because I have been knitting since 2007, many of my garments have seen much wear. It is always nice to reach for a project that looks just as lovely and fresh and the day it was created. I feel that this yarn will meet the challenge of the coming years.

For my colors, I stayed with my tried and true favorites. Green. Green is such a versatile color in my wardrobe, and I wear it constantly. Seeing the two shades of green working in perfect harmony together just gave me all the heart eyes. The richness of the spruce color paired with the softness of the agave color were just right.

Additionally, I was drawn to the stitch definition of the pattern. Some of my favorite shawls are those that feature stripes with a contrast stitch pattern. It is something about it that is so classic, yet unique at the same time. The eyelet pattern was a true highlight against the backdrop of the stockinette stitch. To say that I am happy with the outcome is an understatement.

The process of creating this shawl has been such a pleasure. It is perfect to settle into in the evenings as I binge watch mysteries. After completing the pattern repeat a couple of times, I was caught up into the rhythm of the knitting. It was a relaxing project with enough detail to keep things interesting. A bonus was the low number of ends to weave in!

Once the knitting was complete, I gave it a full soak for 15 minutes using my Soak wash solution. I gently wringed out the excess water, folded into a white towel, and stood on it for a few moments to release additional water. Finally, it was ready for the mat. I pinned according to the schematics and let it dry naturally.
Overall, the shawl is just the thing I was hoping it would be. It has the perfect dimension, beautiful colors, and cozy feel. I enjoy it wrapped around my neck or draped over my shoulders. I am looking forward to wearing it not only in the coming months, but the coming years!
