Christina's Jumpsuit Journey
When I saw Sonya's new book The Act of Sewing, I knew I had to get my mitts on it! I immediately thumbed through all the pages, noting the myriad of options. There were so many options, I started to make a list to help narrow down.
Pattern: Jumpsuit, The Act of Sewing by Sonya Philip
Size Made: Small
Fabric: Savannah Linen in white and black
Modifications: Changed to V-neck, decreased the size of the patch pocket
Once I saw the flat jumpsuit sketch on page 164, I knew that was the one. I have been wanting to make a jumpsuit for a long while now and this was my chance! I followed the well-written instructions, going rogue and over-thinking only a few times.
It was a little more labor intensive than I hoped, but the result was worth it. I spent quite a bit of time pattern drafting, but the jumpsuit came together quickly and easily. After completing some alterations (I ended up taking 3" out of each side seam, from the armpit to the hem), I was really happy with the fit.
I loved working with this linen! I hadn't made anything in linen for a while, so it was like revisiting an old friend. And I remembered to embrace the "fashion rumple" that linen brings to a garment. This jumpsuit will be perfect for all the fun outdoor events this summer holds!
