Blank Canvas KAL Success!

An abundance of new cozy sweaters are here, thanks to all the friends who joined us in our recent knit-along for Blank Canvas! This pullover by Ysolda Teague was a fun pattern to knit--we always enjoy Ysolda's smartly written patterns. It was a blast watching so many sweaters take shape over the last several weeks at craft night.

We had a rainbow of beautiful finished sweaters show up at Tuesday's Craft Night! Now, meet some of our knit-along cohorts wearing their new Blank Canvases.

Sunne Meyer

What yarn did you use? The Fibre Company Terra in Black Locust Bark
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? Lots and lots
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? This is my second Blank Canvas. It is just a well written, beautiful sweater. I love making it!
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? Destashing some beautiful yarn in a pattern that allows it to shine! And seeing everyone else's sweaters as inspiration!

Alsn

What yarn did you use? The Fibre Company Acadia in Oyster
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? Three
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? OMG! Let's talk about math for a second. I learned a lot about how to make my numbers the right ratio to Ysolda's numbers, with lots of help from the Fancy Tiger Ladies, and it all finally clicked for me! Yesss!
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? The general sense of accomplishment that fills the air during the photoshoot.

Alsn did more gauge swatches than anyone while prepping for this sweater! She used different needle sizes to get the look she wanted for her lace edging and to make sure her fit was right on. She added a faux side seam and embellished it with a little cable wedge at the bottom. Lovely!

Mamata Akella

What yarn did you use? Rauma 3-Ply Strikkegarn in Emerald Green
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? 0!
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? I learned so much! First, not to be intimidated by making a sweater! I also learned a lot of new stitches and techniques. This was a really awesome project, the skill level was just right.
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? My favorite part was the community aspect. Sitting here on Tuesday nights working and talking with everyone has been awesome. Thanks for putting this on!

Jaime Jennings

What yarn did you use? I spun my own! It is "longwool" I got at Rhinebeck. My handspun was a bit bigger than a DK, so I had to adjust for my gauge and knit a smaller size. I also had a different row gauge so I kind of made up my raddle decreasing.
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? Like 30.
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? I like working with my handspun.
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? I love seeing other people's sweaters.

Look at that lovely handspun!

Sophie

What yarn did you use? Anzula Nebula striped with Fancy Tiger 8 year anniversary yarn
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? Four
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? It's good to knit the sleeves on separate needles because you can take them with you without the rest of the sweater.
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? I like this pattern because it's easy to add stripes or other embellishments without deviation from the shaping itself.

Miranda Harp

What yarn did you use? The Fibre Company Acadia in Mussel
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? 6 or 7? This is the only one that's even fit before!
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? Wash. Your. Swatch. Also, in a pinch you can get 40" of sweater on a 16" needle.
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? It's a badge of honor to have a sweater with all my friends.

Betsy Martinson

What yarn did you use? Riihivilla mushroom dyed Finsheep yarn, striped with Cascade Sport in Doeskin Heather and Yakima Heather
How many sweaters have you knit before this one? Three - all Lopi!
Is there anything you learned while knitting this pattern? My Finsheep yarn was lighter weight wool than the pattern called for so I had to learn how to add rows to keep proportions correct.
What is your favorite thing about joining this knit-along? I was very inspired by the pattern and how others modified or not. I want to make another one!
