Arika Cowl in Dovestone Natural Aran

We have a brand new Tiger, Danielle, who will be working in our shipping department! Her first act after joining team Fancy Tiger? Knit a totally awesome cowl, obviously! You may not see her face on the floor very often, but we are excited to share her face and her knits on the blog!

Pattern: Arika by Jane Richmond from The Dovestone Natural Aran Collection
Materials: Baa Ram Ewe's Dovestone Natural Aran
Modifications: I attached the fringe at just under an inch apart. The pattern recommends an inch, so I had to add some additional fringe.

As a knitter I'm always looking for fun, quick accessories that I can take with me "on the go". Jane Richmond's Arika was great for this! The pattern is rhythmic and easy to memorize making it GREAT to knit in public. Honestly, I had trouble putting it down-I kept wanting to find out how it would come together.

The Dovestone Aran is really perfect for this cowl. It lends a rustic feel without being scratchy at all. It is substantial and stable with wonderful texture. I'm not normally drawn to fringe. If you're also skeptical, you can leave it off for a completely different look OR you can just put it on and become a convert like me!

I did find that after blocking the measurements only got me to 26" diagonally rather than the 28" that the pattern states. Because of this, it is a bit snug to pull it over the head, but it works totally fine once you get it there. You may want to consider extending the pattern a bit though.

This cowl is a must-have for the cooler temps that are sneaking up on us. It adds a little oompf to a t-shirt and jeans and hugs your neck without feeling like there's anything there.
