Amber's Wedding Party Wilder
I'm in love with linen these days: I want to sew everything in it! I've been itching to make a dress from our Roma Linen in this beautiful Mahogany hue. A dear friend's wedding was this past weekend in the mountains, and I decided the Wilder Gown would make the perfect pretty yet comfortable dress to wear. The Wilder was a breeze to make, and the Roma Linen was dreamy to sew with!
Pattern: Wilder Gown by Friday Pattern Co
Fabric: 3-1/3 yards Roma Linen in Mahogany
Size: Small
Modifications: Shortened Sleeve
I sized down for my Wilder, making a size small although I measure for a medium. I shortened the sleeves by changing the straight sleeve hem to a curved hem, taking off about 2.5" at the underarm and 5" at the center of the sleeve. The Wilder has a double topstitched seam at the center front, and I also used this type of seam for the raglan seams and underarms. I used a topstitching weight thread in contrasting brown for my visible stitches to make them pop a little.
My Wilder is super comfortable! I makes me feel like a pretty lady, and I can even do high kicks in it! Badass! My one regret about my Wilder: it doesn't have pockets. I will probably go back and add inseam pockets, and I would definitely recommend adding them from the get-go.
The cinched neckline on this dress is everything, and next up I want to make the top version. I think a long sleeve Wilder Top for fall would be lovely! I'd also like to make a just-below-the-knee version of the tiered dress, by taking several inches off each the tiers.
