Alex's Tie Dye Ebony Tee

Closet Case Patterns Ebony Tee was my first (real) jersey project! I’m grateful for our Summer Sewing Challenge to help me break out of my comfort zone of only sewing with wovens. Not only do I have this drapey dream of a summer top, but I also have the bragging rights of learning to use a twin needle, cutting a pattern using a rotary blade as well as utilizing a serger for the first time.Ebony Tee sewing pattern reviewPattern: Closet Case - Ebony Tee
Fabric: Bamboo Tie Dye Knit
Size Made: 16

My biggest suggestion for anyone looking to give this project a very finished look using a twin needle is to refer to your sewing machine’s manual. I thought I would just “wing it” but within the first few inches I jammed my machine and caused a lot of delay and unnecessary heartache.

This pattern whips up incredibly quickly (once you have your techniques down) and explains everything in crystal clear detail. I love my raglan sleeves! The only thing I plan on changing is sizing down one size. I don’t have a very full bust and with how shifty this material is I think a size 14 would be more flattering without being too form fitting. I also plan on trying my hand at mixing and matching necklines, sleeves, and lengths by drafting from the existing pattern. Perhaps a raglan style, 3/4 length sleeve in the cropped view!
