Aleks' Alder Dress

Fabric: Windham Fabric Patchwork Circles, 100% Cotton, 42-43” wide, $12.50 per yard
Notions: Italian buttons, 28mm, interfacing, thread



I fell in love with this Patchwork Circles fabric the moment I lifted it out of the box it arrived in. The color, the background patterns that evoked movement and flow, with the large dark circles creating an overlay of rhythm and stability. My inner architect was so happy.



I knew I wanted to make something out of it – something that really showcased the fabric. I perused the patterns in the store and came across the Alder Shirt Dress pattern by Grain Line Studios. The simplicity of this design would be perfect, not to mention super comfortable!



I absolutely love how the dress turned out! Absolutely wonderful for the summer.



I mentioned in my last project, the 101 Trousers, that I hadn’t made clothes for myself in a very long time. You know, it’s like riding a bicycle! And I’m so excited to see where the ride takes me.
