Basecamp Sock-along Wrap Up

I am blown away by the number of KAL participants this year! I loved writing the Basecamp Sock pattern and am so glad that you all like it too! For many of you, this was your first pair of socks, which is completely amazing. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people tell me that they have been wanting to knit socks, but have felt intimidated by steps involved. I hope that everyone who just finished their first pair feels empowered and inspired to try new styles of socks. It turns out socks really are not that hard to knit at all!

Basecamp Sock KAL Group Photo

I could gush all day about how lovely it has been to see you all knit up my pattern, but that is definitely not what you came here for, so let’s get down to brass tacks…. The Winners!

Basecamp Socks in Hue Loco Tweed Sock

First off we have the winner for Best Finished Sock Photo! For Linda, this was her second pair of socks, but her first time knitting toe-up. She used Hue Loco’s Tweed Sock yarn.

Basecamp Socks in Retrosaria Mondim

We also had a runner-up in this category. Kendal knit her first every pair of socks for the KAL using one of our favorite yarns, Oreo Mondim.

Pink knitting Kaylee Lockhart's Basecamp Socks

The winner for Best In-Progress Photo goes to Pink who took her socks all the way to Iceland with her! Check out her Instagram for tons of amazing Iceland + Basecamp photos.

Runner-up for Best In-Progress Photo goes to Raphae for this amazing adventure knitting photo from Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya!

Alicia's Basecamp Socks

We also have a few honorable mentions… The first one goes to Alicia who joined Instagram just to share her Basecamp progress with us!

Basecamp Socks

… And Mary for the most well-traveled sock knitting we have ever seen. Was that seven different states that we saw your Basecamps in?!

We had tons of people join us for this week’s cast-off party too!
